Bottom (left to right): Mysteriously Blue, Green Love, Seductive, Wham!, Nightmare

I am wearing Orange sparks on the inner corner, green love on the outer corner, and Sunshine on the lower lashline... They are really pigmented when you apply on top of a base or apply them wet. All the colors have a nice sheen to them, not chunky shimmers or glitters.

NOTD: OPI Do You Lilac it?

Decided to remove China Glaze Peri-Wink-le today since it started chipping..... China Glaze nail polish tend to chip away on the 4th day... and the edges of the nail polish tends to fade off almost on the 3rd day....

This is actually my first time trying OPI nail polishes. I can see where the hype come from. First of all, the formula is smooth, opaque, and easy to apply. The brush is sterdy and relatively thick, which makes the application so so much easier. It only took me two coats to get to the color intensity in the bottle. It dries really fast, and leaves a shiny glossy finish. And above all, it doesn't feel "heavy" on the nails, whereas China Glaze nail polishes often require 3 coats and can feel thick and glued onto the nails.

That being said..... I still don't think OPI should sell their nail polish at $9/bottle....... It's just too expensive for some of us to afford.... especially for people who have nail polish addictions and just want to collect them all.

Anyways... Do you lilac it? is a medium shade of purple color. It's very true to how it appears in the bottle. However, for some reason, I think it's almost more of a red purple than the cool toned purple I like. Maybe it's because of my yellow undertone that makes this nail polish appear more red? I don't know.... still a pretty color though, just too red toned for my taste.

Under the light... (please ignore the nail polish on the cuticles..... I'm still pretty clumsy at applying nail polishes even with a good brush)

W/ flash light...

Cam-whoring.... w/ my manly fingers... (that sounds very weird....)

Okie.... I'm really liking OPI nail polishes right now... hoping to buy more soon... =)

China Glaze: Secret Peri-Wink-le

This was one of the 8 nail polishes that I got from Transdesign.com. Decided to try this one first because it's such a unique color in the bottle. Based on the only China Glaze nail polish that I own previously (For Audrey), I'm really not too fond of how it looks so thick and gloopy on my nails.

Secret Peri-Wink-le is supposedly a periwinkle color (which I didn't really know is a flower until I googled it). If you ask me, I would say it's a intense ceil blue color (for those of you who are familiar w/ scrub colors). It's a creamy blueish color with slight hint of lavender.

First coat was kinda streaky, so I applied a second coat. But the color was still not quite as intense as how it appears in the bottle. Third coat made it more even, but it took forever to dry..... And knowing me, I just don't have the patience to leave my fingernails alone. So some nails got horrible dents, other ones have fingerprints on them..... o___O The color is gorgeous, but on my nail, it looks horrible as usual.....

But I'm new to nail polishes, what do I care..... Maybe it would be worthwhile to invest in a Seche Vite fast drying top coat.

Here is the swatch of the color on the relatively less messed up hand....

A little background about my nails, which I'm still a little self-conscious most of the time. I have really short nail beds to start with... and they are really soft..... I bit my nails till I was like 12 yrs old..... My mom always thought it was a nutrition deficiency kind of thing.... like how sometimes chicken peck at their own eggs to get calcium? So my mom would smack my hand everytime she saw me doing it.... But I think it was more of a habbit/stress behavior? I don't even know...

Then around teenager years, everyone else started painting their nails all colorful, and I realized that my nails were so ugly to a point I can't even bear looking at them.... So I told myself since I wasn't born with girly pretty nails, if I keep on biting them, they'll always stay short and stubby. It took me a while to quit the habbit, but I stopped biting completely around high school.

I'm still really new to nails..... since I'm a really low-maintenance kind of girl =P... As you can see, they are still really short and not girly at all ..... But I'm content..... I think as long as your nails are clean and uniform, they really can't be that bad. I think cream colors and darker colors actually look really good on shorter nails IMO.

Anyways.... For the last few days, Diamond has a kinked eyebrow. It's almost broken, but still hanging on tight and leaning to the other side..... I resisted for a long time, but I finally decided to trim it because I got really tired of trying to "correct" it everytime I pet Diamond. haha.....

Anyways... Back to studying.... Good luck with finals!!!

April Favorites

I have lots and lots of tests and projects due in the next two weeks. And what do I do to destress? Put on makeup and take pictures. haha...... I wasn't bored, I was stressed!!!

And of course what post would it be without a picture of Diamond?

Trying to be all emo.....

Diamond succumbed to my bad breath?

Nah...she's just enjoying me nibbling her ears. =D

No animal was injured while taking these pictures. No, I do not eat cats.

Some people left very rude comments on my youtube channels saying all Chinese eat dogs.... It's quite funny how little people know about other cultures, yet they bash the entire population like there's no tomorrow..... some Chinese may eat dogs, but certainly not all, and definitely not me.

I don't take out astronomical amt of loans to be in vet school so that I can eat my clients' dogs and cats...... Hmm... what a brilliant idea!!!!

Doing something for a good cause, one search at a time...

I'm not sure how many of you know about this, but I accidentally came across a website called GoodSearch

GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

I'm installing the toolbar as I'm typing down this blog entry right now, so not sure how good the search engine is.... (Update: it's powered by Yahoo), but you get to select for a organization you want to support and everytime you search in their search box, you are raising money for that organization. You can also search for online shopping coupoon codes and such. Everytime you do online shopping, a percentage of what you paid goes to the organization as well.

It's such a cool way to donate money to an organization without even realizing it. I search stuff on a regular basis.... like 489,20,290 times a day.... So why not do something good when I'm just doing my daily routine. So I just had to jump on the idea.

Guess who I'm donating to? The humane society that I used to work at!!!! I was so pleasantly surprised that they were on the list. So I'm totally rooting for any animal related non-profit organization!!!!

So check out that website and do something good while you search. =)

Getting busy again...

Hi everyone, after relaxing and doing absolutely nothing for the first two weeks of school, karma has finally come around and is kicking me hard. Have two quizzes and 1 midterm next week... not to mention a final project and a take-home midterm that are due soon. (don't be fooled by "take-home", it usually means harder and more time-consuming)

Anyways... I volunteered at the exotic animal department of our teaching hospital. I had to wake up at 6am every single day, but it's totally worth it. I got to tube feed a tortoise, give subcutaneous fluids and injections to a guinea pig, administer meds and enema to a cockatoo, give subcutaneous fluid to a red tail hawk, and prepare food for a golden eagle!!!!! Jealous? hehehe..... It seems so fun to be able to treat such a large variety of species, but it will take a lot of experience and knowledge to know what are the unique characteristics and needs of each specie.

I also got to gave a horse a injection via IV cather and an intramuscular shot of Pro-Pen-G. Giving the shot alone was scary enough since I had to stand right next to the most powerful part of horse - the hind legs, but I didn't learn until later that giving penicillin G procaine shots can be extremely dangerous. Procain can go into the small capillaries, go back to the heart, and go straight to the brain where it can cause adverse reaction. Horses can act really hysterial for some time, like kicking around and jumping. They get so hyperexcited that they can fall and break their own legs..... so let's try not to imagine what the horse could have done to a human like me. So phew... I'm glad I successfully gave IM shot to a horse for the first time and walked out of that stall safely.

Needless to say, I'm so enjoying vet school right now. There are some classes that are heh... but overall, I'm falling in love with it more and more. I think I found my soul mate. LOL.

Anyways.... I did a 40 beauty question tag today. Feel free to do one yourself and I really want to hear everyone else's answers.

Still really liking the circle lenses I got few weeks ago. The blue is so rich and mysterious.

Alright, that's it for now..... Gotta catch up on school work. =)

Dresses from Hot Miami Styles

I tend to be a little bit dubious when it comes to ordering clothing online. I'm 5'8". Although my torso is decently slender, I have a big bone structure. So sometimes the shoulder might not fit very well or the sleeves may be too short. As for my legs, there's just no way to order stuff without first trying them on. So I've been browsing cloths and shoes on online stores for a while. I always put stuff in my cart, but never had the gut to actually place an order. Just because in case they didn't fit, sending them back is a big hassle.

Few weeks ago, I was given a chance to try out some cloth pieces from hotmiamistyles.com. I've heard about their website from other youtube gurus, and I wasn't sure if I could fit into their cloths as well as their models. Choosing the sizes was a bit difficult, since I wasn't sure if I should just get my normal size (medium) or a size up.

In the end, I decided to get all dresses since summer is almost here and I've been drooling to get my hands on some new dresses. These are all in Large, and they were surprisingly comfortable and fitted.

Again, don't let those voluptuous models mislead you that you must have the same body shapes to look good in the shirt/dress/pants. Always order a size up if you are not sure and let your own style shine through. =)
