Diamond was getting stressed with the three foster kittens growing up
She vomitted 10 times within 3 days
Since Diamond is an older cat
I was really stressed out thinking of all the possible ailments she can get
I had no choice but to transfer my kittens to another foster last week
My room feels really empty without them
I turn around and see all these places in my room where they would play and completely pass out
But I don't see them there
I feel really sorry that I couldn't keep them longer and spend more time with them
They were such well behaved kittens
The new foster is very dedicated and has two adult kitties who can play with the kittens
So at least the kittens will have a better life
The new foster is keeping the names I gave them: Isadora, Sophie and Madeleine

My mom and my grandma both developed some medical issues recently that I can't disclose here
I don't know how to react to it
Maybe it's because I kind of saw it coming
It's hard being the only child in the family
Most of the time, I have to be strong, brave and stoic
But sometimes, the burden is too heavy
I just want to crumble and hide in a corner

My dormmate decided she has had enough with me
Started sending me really rude and offensive email blaming me for not being considerate
Blaming the kittens for giving her sinus infection, for making her grades drop
Even though the kittens are in my room 24/7 and I had never asked her for help
I'm not a mean person in nature
And I hate those times when I'm forced to stand up for myself
I don't even know how to be mean and how to defend for myself....

On the upside
I finally transferred my leadership position in the kitten rescue group to my successors
I feel so accomplished contributing to this organization and saved more than 350 kittens in this school year alone

I'm also fortunate enough to receive three very generous scholarships recognizing my academic performance and contribution to clubs and non-profit organizations

Whenever I felt lost and lonely in the past,
I always tell myself
When life gets hard and it feels like the whole world is against you
Just keep your head up high
The end of the tunnel may be dark and may be no where in sight
Just keep on looking straight ahead, and don't look back
Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do
Just keep walking and follow your dreams
Soon enough
You'll seen the light shining through

Look at things that make you happy
Be with people that make you feel lucky
Laugh with the world and let the world laugh back at you
Because it's a lot easier to get through tough times if you keep that smile on your face

Here are two more ways that I styled the Accordion Color Blocking Skirt.....

I used to loathe the color yellow. I remember telling my mom that yellow color disgusts me......

Lo and behold, mustard yellow somehow became one of my favorite colors! I have mustard yellow wallet, shoes, and clothing pieces.

So you can imagine when I saw this skirt, I was immediately drawn to it because of the pleats, color blocking, and the pop of yellow color. Just loving it right now!

I think having long and nice hair really helps to shape your face and brings a more girliness to my whole appearance.
I just couldn't stop touching the hair. XD

Here is the before and after comparison....

Here is a video showing you how I put it on if you are interested. There are tons of really good tutorial videos on youtube.... Actually, that's how I learned how to clip on mine.

So I decided to put a more pastel color blocking outfit together.
I've been really into color blocking lately. I'm not the most fashion forward person, and I do have a lot of clothing pieces that have unique or bold colors on their own. Being able to clash different colors and still be trendy is so easy and sometimes so effortless. If you feel like you have to buy a dozen things from Forever 21 to be able to up to beat with the trend, you should look into your closet first and find those things that you have been ignoring or have been pairing more conservatively before.
The shape reminded me of Jeffrey Campell's classic Litas immediately. Once I looked inside, and realized these are really JC Litas. These are the JC Lita Shag.

<img src="http://www.nitrolicious.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/jeffrey-campbell-shag-01.jpg" /img>

<img src="http://nenuque.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/lita-shag-beigezoom6.jpg" /img>

They come with a white color, tan color and a black color. Honestly, the tan ones look like someone use Chubaka's fur......

Litas look really bulky, but the way they are structured seem to flatter a lot of girls out there. I'm 5'8", and I'm already taller than most of my friends. So my mom (my shopping advisor) always deter me from even trying on high heels/pumps/wedges. I've always wondered how Litas look on me.

So I tried these on anyways. (will insert a photo of me wearing these bad boys later)

Surpringingly, aside from the shaggy part, these shoes were so comfortable and so light. I mastered walking in them in less than 10 seconds. They were so easy to walk in that I literally didn't want to take them off. I feel 50% of the reason why I'm afraid of wearing high heels is the pain and discomfort (the othe r50% is from feeling like a giant and standing out too much). With these, at least I think I can walk comfortably and confidently without tripping.

But it's OK.... These are a little to exaggerated for my taste. If I ever get the impulse and or can afford JC Litas in the future, I would probably get the classic black leather one or suede one.

If anyone is interested, these are still sold at $160 something on solestruck.com. But they were marked down to $80 at my local TJ Maxx. (I only saw the tan and black ones though).echolihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04588358760828138607noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091640555292370191.post-45407152654792948892011-12-21T12:01:00.000-08:002011-12-21T19:33:27.355-08:00My favorite look right now...I've been inspired by a lot of gurus on youtube, and I'm really enjoying neutral eye makeup with bold red lipstick. I've been trying to film a makeup tutorial for a while.... But I just can't find a free video editing software that seems to work. I tried to film it again today, and my new Canon ELPH HS 300 camera just had a glitch. Not only did all my videos disappear, but all the pictures became invalid files that I can't even see on the camera itself......

Ugh!!! It took me so long to find a day where I'm free, the lighting was good, and the look really came together..... I've only had my camera for 2 months, and it's giving up already?!?!?!

Anyways..... These are some pictures I took when I tried to film the tutorial the first time. I'll keep on trying!!!

<img style="cursor: pointer; I've never heard this brand before and I was a little hesitant in trying out the eye mask initially. However, upon reading more information, I became more interested in trying it out.

This brand was developed in the 18th century by Byrne Victor. He was developing a skincare solution for himself since he has a skin issue. It took him 20 years to formulate such special skincare regime. It later became the most wanted beauty secret throughout the Europe. You can read more about the History of VII Beauty.

You can watch my video for a full review. I'm just going to briefly cover few points.

Pros
* Works while you sleep.
* Easy to apply.
* Great for sensitive skin. (Didn't cause any discomfort or allergy for me).
* Moisturizes and brightens up the undereye area.

Cons
* Relatively expensive $55/a box of 6 pairs of eye masks
* May cause discomfort if you are already having allergy. May sting a little.
* Limited power at reducing dark circles.

Overall, I enjoyed using this eye mask a lot. I thought it was fun and convenient, and I'm satisfied with the results. If I could have a more regular sleeping schedule, I think my dark circles wouldn't be as severe. Anyways.... Now picture time...

This is how they look like out of the individual packaging...

Lightly press on the mask after you have positioned them to your liking. It's one of Nikon's cheapest lenses (~$120). So far so good, especially for its price tag..... But seeing my friend's photo taken with the 50mm 1/1.4 lens (which is crystal clear, the lens itself is about ~$250). I guess you do get what you've paid for ....

I have summarized some good's and bad's if you are interested in reading....

The GOOD:

* Narrow depth of field, which gives you that blurry background effect.

* Great for portraiture and stilllife because it will eliminate any busy background.

* Fairly good for low light settings due to the wide aperture.

* Fairly sharp just with the autofocus function. Because I'm nearsighted and because the depth of field is so narrow, I'd rather just rely on autofocus.

* Beautiful bokeh effect. I love to play with different lighting and subtle effects, so definitely a plus.

The BAD:

* Not good for moving objects, such as small children, animals (especially the ones that are scared of camera or the ones you can't approach), etc

* Narrow depth of field..... It's also bad because if you are not focused spot on your object of interest, you'll get a bad blurry picture.

* Wide aperture. Because of the wide aperture, pictures come out overexposed or too bland if you shoot in daylight. Lack of contrast can be easily adjusted with any editting tool. However, overexposure in digital photography simply means loss of data. Even the best photo editting program won't be able to restore the data.

* When you shoot at very low light, pictures won't be very sharp if it's handheld. A tripod or a stable surface will be your best bet.

* Due the narrow depth of field, this lens is not very good for family portraiture or if multiple people are present because someone's face can be out of focus.

* Not good for shooting in a confined space. Since the lens is 50mm and objects will appear closer than seen with naked eyes, you do need to back up physically. If it's a small or crowded room, you might not be able to get the picture you want.

echolihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04588358760828138607noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091640555292370191.post-24753757790802984532010-09-28T19:10:00.001-07:002010-09-28T20:02:41.667-07:00ThriftingMy family has donated numerous times to the Salvation Army over the years. I would say probably at least 10 bags (size of huge trash bags) of clothes, bags, belts, etc. I knew they would make good use out of the stuff that we probably would never, but I never knew that they sell the items. Never heard of thrift store until this year. Yes, I know, I'm little narrow visioned.

Recently I've been watching a lot of thrift store hauls on youtube, and I'm truly inspired. So far, I've been to the thrift store three times. I don't know if you guys recall last Halloween, I scored a chiffon material, white laced dress. It was a little teared, but it was absolutely perfect for me because I dressed up as corpse bride. =D

Earlier last month, I got really intrigued by all the videos and I had asked my mom to go with me to a local Salvation Army store. Initially, she was like "But it's stuff other people have worn and don't want anymore...." So I promised her that it could be just a one time interesting adventure. If we can't find anything good, we'll just get out of there as quickly as we can.

But I ended up finding myself one Bebe lavender blazer and Express grey suit/blazer. The Bebe blazer is totally in for that "boyfriend" trend. It's 100% silk, and the color, oh so fine!!! The Express suit fits me sooooo much better than the BCBG suit that I bought for my vet school interviews, which was about $100 even after 40% off. But those blazers were only $7.99 each.

So I think I'm a little addicted now. Not only about finding cheap thrills, but I love how the money goes toward a good cause. Here are some reasons I think everyone should try thrifting at least once....

1. It's fun
I think the essence of shopping is not just to "buy stuff", but it's about finding something that's cute, comfortable, fashionable, sexy, etc... It's only fun because of the process of looking through random stuff and finally coming across an item that screams you. It's like finding treasures, and it feels very rewarding.

2. It's inexpensive
Who can resist cheap thrills??? Do not deny it!

3. It's unique
The reason why I'm a little deterred from shopping at Forever21 now is because it's so ubiquitous. Every girl in the country or in the world have access to the same garment that you like. And I HATE bumping into people who are wearing the same cloths as me or who tell me "Oh, I have that shirt too!" What you find in the thrift store is most likely no longer available in store or vintage. It's one of a kind.

4. It inspires your creativity.
Of course, not everything comes in perfect condition. A button may be missing or you like the pattern of the skirt, but it's not the current trend. You get to use your imagination to convert it to a trendy and wearable garment. It really makes it even more special.

5. It's environmentally friendly.
To me, the most comforting thought is that by shopping at a thrift store, I'm extending the shelf life of the cloths, bags, shoes, or whatever much much longer. Because a simple gesture of buying a used item, I'm fully utilizing something that took human labor, natural resources, and energy to manufacture. It may not make that much of a difference. But by refraining from buying a brand new item, I may have saved another leaf on a tree or a drop of water in the river. It does add up.

6. It's a good cause.
7. There's no sales tax.
8. There are some ridiculous sales sometimes. (50% off sale, student sale, senior sale, buy 5 and get all at $2, 1lb of clothing for $2, etc)
9. It's good to support (non-corporate) local stores.
10. It's good to get out more, and by "get out", I mean non-mall places.

OK, there are more reasons that I just can't think of right now.

Here are some girls on youtube who always find really amazing deals..... I love watching their videos!!!

http://www.youtube.com/MsPinkFabulous

http://www.youtube.com/tiffytofuecholihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04588358760828138607noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091640555292370191.post-16810685760862941862010-08-30T12:15:00.001-07:002010-08-30T18:10:08.577-07:00A little update and some pictures from this summer...
I was supposed to go to a veterinary volunteer trip in New Mexico. However, a lot of things have happened recently. Despite all the fundraising effort I put in and all the fun learning experience I was expecting, I decided that it was best to stay home for another week.

One of the things that happened recently was that Diamond got lower urinary tract infection last week. It's a fairly common illness that cats get, but it can be quite serious. I knew she was a little stressed from moving home with me. She showed some signs initially, but has gotten better few weeks ago. Last week, she kept on running around, peeing frequently and peeing and pooping outside of her litter box. She was meowing at me, and I knew something must have gone wrong because she never meows. When I went to her litter box to check, I saw red stains on the carpet and on the kitchen tiles. She was urinating blood!

I'm usually extremely calm when it comes to taking care of other people's animals, but I got so nervous when I saw bloody urine on the floor. So I took her to the humane society I worked at before immediately. Her blood and urine analysis results are still pending, but we decided to treat her empirically with antibiotics since she's had history of UTI before and all the signs fit UTI.

She has gotten a lot better on the first day-- bloody in the urine has become more and more diluted. But she is still regaining her appetite and her confidence in using the litter box again. Sigh.... I'm such a bad mom for ignoring her signs. She still purred and rubbed her head against me even though she must have been in a lot of pain.

Anyways..... On a brighter note, here are some pictures from this summer..... I haven't touched my D80 in a really long time, and I almost forgot how to use it.

I went to Santa Monica with my friends few weeks ago. This bikini set was the one I talked about in my recent haul video. The set was only $15 (compare to ~ $140 originally). This was the first time I've ever worn bikini in the public, so I was a bit shy about taking off the shorts off. LOL

I was told to do a sexy pose..... and this was the awkward pose that I came up with..... Definitely not a model material as you can tell...

Oddly enough, I was just demonstrating to my friends how to do a sexy pose here. Just when I was about to get up, she took the shot. He's 3 and half. So he's like constantly jumping up and down, running around, and laughing loudly. I just can't match up his energy level.... Usually, I would blame my aunt for buying him fast food or allowing him to watch TV. I know how easily kids get addicted to those things. But I was so tired after the first 2 hours, I was just watching Spongebob with him the whole time (since he only sits down when he's watching spongebob, and also because spongebob is one of my favorite cartoon too... XD)

I gotta admit, kids are a lot of work..... I just can't imagine how I have to work a full time job, and still have to take care of my family after work..... My cousin is finally asleep right now, but I have a really bad pounding headache right now. It pounds everytime I tries to get out of my bed. So I probably should sleep early today and get ready for one more day with a 3 yr-old.echolihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04588358760828138607noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091640555292370191.post-91363050865285645762010-08-17T11:00:00.000-07:002010-08-17T12:40:03.059-07:00DOTD: Horrible NightmareOk, I hate waking up at 5 in the morning from a horrible nightmare. Then I would start imagining what would happen if the dream continued...... and then I could never fall asleep after that.

So last night, I dreamt that my parents and I were sitting in the living room and watching TV. It was at night time, and it was pretty quiet. All of a sudden, there was some kind of stir outside. Then, we could hear people on the nearby streets screaming and wailing. Then we heard a car driving away, with really loud shrill from acceleration.

The way people were crying sounded so helpless and miserable, that I got chills down my back. Our family was shocked. We just sat there and looked at each other. I think we later switched channels, and found out there's a brutal serial killer that's having a murder rampage throughout the town. Obviously, the way he kills people is extremely ruthless. Police still haven't caught that guy yet.

For some reason and without my consent, my parents decided it's not safe to stay at home and they want to drive to the nearest motel. On our way, we saw police blocking off major intersections because of the murdering scene. The streets were completely dark and there was no one on the street. When we finally got to the motel, my cousin and her friends went there also. She told me supposedly the murderer would make a cut on the victim and drink the blood while the victim is still alive (Umm.... I wonder what we call beings like that.)

People kept on driving into the motel, but everyone still looked really terrified because none of us know how the murderer looks like or where he might be.

Then I woke up. Maybe it really doesn't sound that scary, but the sound of people screaming was so vivid and it kept on ringing in my ears. I kept on thinking what if the murderer comes into the motel, kill the front desk clerk, and get the master key to every room? What if the murderer is among us?

Needless to say, it was my wild imagination that kept me up and feeling really disturbed.

Anyways..... In Inception, Cobb told Rober Fischer that it's hard to recall dreams after you wake up, it takes years of practice. I thought maybe I should continue to write down my dreams (since I have already mastered the skills! XD). I stopped writing for a while because I've been so exhausted during school year that I just don't have any extra memory space for those things. But since it's summer, I'll try to write down as many dreams as I remember.echolihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04588358760828138607noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091640555292370191.post-83351545201994838092010-08-15T18:24:00.000-07:002010-08-15T19:29:01.261-07:00Fashion is......I don't know about you guys, but I used to try to follow every fashion trend. Sometimes, even when I know the cloths don't flatter my body, I still wear them. After a while, I realized it's just not realistic to be blindly chasing after every fashion trend. I don't want to feel uncomfortable in cloths when I know I'm not at my best.

I certainly don't have perfect modelesque figure, and I know even with very stringent diet or exercise, genes still override. I don't want to be too critical of myself. I want to be able to enjoy food and enjoy life. I want to be comfortable, happy, and confident. So let it be. So I learnt to embrace my body and be picky about which trends to follow. Then for a while, almost all the clothing pieces I bought were either grey or black. They were too ordinary, unoriginal and ageless. Now that a lot of clothing stores are ubiquitous (ie Forever 21), I'd rather look ordinary than bumping into another dozen of girls who wear the exact same outfits. My mom always tells me how my wardrobe is so boring. I don't really care, because I'm comfortable in my own skin, so it doesn't really matter what I wear.

Anyways..... I really love seeing pictures of street fashion, especially of Japanese and Koreans. I love their individualistic sense of fashion. It's so refreshing, so unique, and even so bizzarre!!! Sometimes, I wonder how these people even came up with the idea. Regardless whether it's wonderful or weird, it's so brilliant the way they put the outfit together. So I guess fashion is what makes you YOU. As long as you are comfortable in it, nobody can have a say about your fashion sense.

All pictures are from http://www.japanesestreets.com/.

Another Japanese street fashion website that I've been visiting since few years ago is http://www.style-arena.jp/en

So what do you guys think? Following the mass trends? L'oreal Lash Boosting Serum - I don't know why I never really paid attention to this product until few days ago. Reviews on Makeupalley seems kinda split, it either worked pretty well or it caused itchy eyes. Most lash growth serum are soooo expensive, so I think it's worth a shot to try this one. Just by having really full and long lashes can do so much to one's eyes.

2. Maybelline Stilleto Mascara - Heard some good things about this mascara... still haven't had a chance to try it out. The only reason that I haven't bought this mascara is because I have a bunch of backups of other mascaras and I'm waiting for a BOGO sale. =)

3. Fedora - I've been wanting a fedora for a long time. I know it was in fashion a while ago, and I wished I had looked for one when there were more options. Right now, there aren't that many pretty ones..... And maybe my head is too big? a lot of the ones won't even fit my head. XD I just love how fedora helps to make my messy and thick hair into an intended laid back casual look. haha....

4. Petticoat MSF- The NYC Color Chroma Face Glow in Moonstone looks so similar to Petticoat MSF. It's a pretty good dupe. The shimmer is also very fine and subtle. There are also burgundy and gold veinings on top of the light pink powder. It's great for highlighting and blush, and it gives you a pretty nice pink sheen on the cheeks. But unfortunately, my skin is allergic to this knock off version. I would get red bumps on my cheeks everytime I use NYC Moonstone. Since I have a Macy's gift card, I really want to get this pretty hyped up Petticoat MSF.echolihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04588358760828138607noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091640555292370191.post-41087042797459013072010-07-28T21:43:00.000-07:002010-07-29T00:43:22.453-07:00Tag: 8 QuestionsLisa, thank you for tagging me!!!! I'm no expert when it comes to applying bronzers. A lot of bronzers tend to make my face look "dirty" or orangy. I got the Prestige bronzer in Rich Bronze last summer (it was on sale for about $3.50!!!!). I think I found my HG bronzer. The powder is very finely milled, and it gives you the most divine bronzy sheen on your cheeks. I've gotten a lot of compliments when I wear this bronzer. And of course, the domed shape and the veinings on the surface always draw me into reaching for it (and staring at it) every single day.

How did you become interested into beauty?
I've always had the urge to "paint" on my face..... Of course, it was more like randomly drawing than makeup. I became really obsessed with makeup the summer I graduated from college. Back then, I could barely apply mascara without poking my eyes out. As for eyeliner? I would apply a thick and uneven line first, then I would use makeup remover to wipe off the excess. VOILA, that's my version of tight lining!

Ok.... enough babbling. During college, I took jazz/hip-hop lessons and we had to perform on stage. That's when I realized I didn't know anything about makeup. At the time, I had no idea about the makeup community. So I searched for pictures of celebrity wearing smoky eye makeup and tried to imitate. I felt really frustrated because I could never replicate the look the way I wanted. And then there were formal dinners, my graduation ceremony, and my first time going to the club... I just wish I knew what to do with my face for different occasions. It was not until after I graduated from college, I realized that there were so many makeup blogs, forums and tutorial videos on youtube. Then I got really into it and start hoarding makeup products..... I also really like the color in Rio night which is a deep cream purple color... Haven't had a chance to get that one yet.

Festival Lights is a creamy orangy color. Cream finish. I saw this nail polish still in my local CVS at $6.99.

I have to say I'm happy I didn't have to pay for the retail price for this nail polish. Orly brush is extremely flimsy and thin. Compare to OPI (which I only needed 3 strokes to cover my entire nail), I had to apply at least 5 strokes to cover my nail. This particular nail polish is also very sheer and runny..... I would have been fine with a sheer orange nail polish if it applied evenly during the first or second coat..... But I really needed 3 coats to get the color intensity and also get the color evenly. It took forever to dry.... so as usually, I have finger prints, dents, smears, and what not on my nails.

The color is gorgeous, and really flatters my yellow/olive undertone. Definitely a great summer color for my skin. But I think it's easily dupable. For example, Festival Lights by Orly is extremely similar to V by China Glaze (CG is much cheaper too...).

So overall, I'm not too pleased with this Orly nail polish.... In this case, OPI nail polishes is totally worth price considering how quickly the nail polish dries so you won't mess up and don't have to deal with booboos. Also, you only need to put 1 or 2 coats for the same color intensity, so one bottle of OPI nail polish will definitely last much longer than other nail polishes...
And on top of everything, OPI is free of formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP.

I really want to get more nail polishes... but I think for now, my collection of nail polishes is decent. Since I have decided to go on to a volunteering trip to Mexico to help the local ppl with treating and vaccinating their animals. So I should start saving some money for a more meaningful cause.....

Anyways.... Gotta get back to studying for finals...echolihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04588358760828138607noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091640555292370191.post-35799330486454749872010-05-30T15:03:00.000-07:002010-05-30T16:10:08.357-07:00Product Review: Eye Rockz Mineral Eyeshadows

Here are the color swatches......
Top (left to right): Lemonade, Orange Sparks, Sunshine, Pinkalicious, Glamorous
Bottom (left to right): Mysteriously Blue, Green Love, Seductive, Wham!, Nightmare

Natural light

Flash Light

I am wearing Orange sparks on the inner corner, green love on the outer corner, and Sunshine on the lower lashline... China Glaze nail polish tend to chip away on the 4th day... and the edges of the nail polish tends to fade off almost on the 3rd day....

This is actually my first time trying OPI nail polishes. I can see where the hype come from. First of all, the formula is smooth, opaque, and easy to apply. The brush is sterdy and relatively thick, which makes the application so so much easier. It only took me two coats to get to the color intensity in the bottle. It dries really fast, and leaves a shiny glossy finish. And above all, it doesn't feel "heavy" on the nails, whereas China Glaze nail polishes often require 3 coats and can feel thick and glued onto the nails.

That being said..... I still don't think OPI should sell their nail polish at $9/bottle....... It's just too expensive for some of us to afford.... especially for people who have nail polish addictions and just want to collect them all.

Anyways... Do you lilac it? is a medium shade of purple color. It's very true to how it appears in the bottle. However, for some reason, I think it's almost more of a red purple than the cool toned purple I like. Maybe it's because of my yellow undertone that makes this nail polish appear more red? I don't know.... still a pretty color though, just too red toned for my taste.

Under the light... (please ignore the nail polish on the cuticles..... I'm still pretty clumsy at applying nail polishes even with a good brush)

W/ flash light...

Cam-whoring.... w/ my manly fingers... Decided to try this one first because it's such a unique color in the bottle. Based on the only China Glaze nail polish that I own previously (For Audrey), I'm really not too fond of how it looks so thick and gloopy on my nails.

Secret Peri-Wink-le is supposedly a periwinkle color (which I didn't really know is a flower until I googled it). If you ask me, I would say it's a intense ceil blue color (for those of you who are familiar w/ scrub colors). It's a creamy blueish color with slight hint of lavender.

First coat was kinda streaky, so I applied a second coat. But the color was still not quite as intense as how it appears in the bottle. Third coat made it more even, but it took forever to dry..... And knowing me, I just don't have the patience to leave my fingernails alone. So some nails got horrible dents, other ones have fingerprints on them..... o___O The color is gorgeous, but on my nail, it looks horrible as usual.....

But I'm new to nail polishes, what do I care..... Maybe it would be worthwhile to invest in a Seche Vite fast drying top coat.

Here is the swatch of the color on the relatively less messed up hand....

w/o flash

w/ flash

A little background about my nails, which I'm still a little self-conscious most of the time. I have really short nail beds to start with... and they are really soft..... I bit my nails till I was like 12 yrs old..... My mom always thought it was a nutrition deficiency kind of thing.... like how sometimes chicken peck at their own eggs to get calcium? So my mom would smack my hand everytime she saw me doing it.... But I think it was more of a habbit/stress behavior? I don't even know...

Then around teenager years, everyone else started painting their nails all colorful, and I realized that my nails were so ugly to a point I can't even bear looking at them.... So I told myself since I wasn't born with girly pretty nails, if I keep on biting them, they'll always stay short and stubby. It took me a while to quit the habbit, but I stopped biting completely around high school.

I'm still really new to nails..... since I'm a really low-maintenance kind of girl =P... As you can see, they are still really short and not girly at all ..... But I'm content..... I think as long as your nails are clean and uniform, they really can't be that bad. I think cream colors and darker colors actually look really good on shorter nails IMO.

Anyways.... For the last few days, Diamond has a kinked eyebrow. It's almost broken, but still hanging on tight and leaning to the other side..... I resisted for a long time, but I finally decided to trim it because I got really tired of trying to "correct" it everytime I pet Diamond. haha.....

Anyways... (Update: it's powered by Yahoo), but you get to select for a organization you want to support and everytime you search in their search box, you are raising money for that organization. You can also search for online shopping coupoon codes and such. Everytime you do online shopping, a percentage of what you paid goes to the organization as well.

It's such a cool way to donate money to an organization without even realizing it. I search stuff on a regular basis.... like 489,20,290 times a day.... So why not do something good when I'm just doing my daily routine. So I just had to jump on the idea.

Guess who I'm donating to? The humane society that I used to work at!!!! I was so pleasantly surprised that they were on the list. So I'm totally rooting for any animal related non-profit organization!!!!

So check out that website and do something good while you search. =)echolihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04588358760828138607noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7091640555292370191.post-82302758823371455952010-04-23T20:08:00.000-07:002010-04-23T20:53:57.783-07:00Getting busy again...Hi everyone, after relaxing and doing absolutely nothing for the first two weeks of school, karma has finally come around and is kicking me hard. Have two quizzes and 1 midterm next week... not to mention a final project and a take-home midterm that are due soon. (don't be fooled by "take-home", it usually means harder and more time-consuming)

Anyways... I volunteered at the exotic animal department of our teaching hospital. I had to wake up at 6am every single day, but it's totally worth it. I got to tube feed a tortoise, give subcutaneous fluids and injections to a guinea pig, administer meds and enema to a cockatoo, give subcutaneous fluid to a red tail hawk, and prepare food for a golden eagle!!!!! Jealous? hehehe..... It seems so fun to be able to treat such a large variety of species, but it will take a lot of experience and knowledge to know what are the unique characteristics and needs of each specie.

I also got to gave a horse a injection via IV cather and an intramuscular shot of Pro-Pen-G. Giving the shot alone was scary enough since I had to stand right next to the most powerful part of horse - the hind legs, but I didn't learn until later that giving penicillin G procaine shots can be extremely dangerous. Procain can go into the small capillaries, go back to the heart, and go straight to the brain where it can cause adverse reaction. Horses can act really hysterial for some time, like kicking around and jumping. They get so hyperexcited that they can fall and break their own legs..... so let's try not to imagine what the horse could have done to a human like me. So phew... I'm glad I successfully gave IM shot to a horse for the first time and walked out of that stall safely.

Needless to say, I'm so enjoying vet school right now. There are some classes that are heh... but overall, I'm falling in love with it more and more. I think I found my soul mate. LOL.

Anyways.... I did a 40 beauty question tag today. Feel free to do one yourself and I really want to hear everyone else's answers.

Still really liking the circle lenses I got few weeks ago.
